Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
